Spotify will identify artists created with artificial intelligence

Berlin– The Swedish music platform Spotify announced yesterday, Tuesday, the introduction starting next month of a new label to identify the identities of artists generated by artificial intelligence (AI).

Starting in mid-September, the “AI Persona” label will appear on some artist profileswhich will indicate to music listeners on the platform that an artist’s identity may have been generated by artificial intelligence and does not represent a real person, Spotify said in a statement.

The platform considers that music consumers on Spotify “they must be able to trust that the artist behind a song is really who they say they are, something more essential than ever in the era of generative AI”.

The new label is another step in the Swedish company’s goal of making the platform “more transparent and trustworthy” in this new environment after the launch of “Verified by Spotify”, “SongDNA” and “AI Credits” to know how a song was created, and “Artist Profile Protection”. By default, Spotify will not include music from “AI Personas” in its editorial recommendations or algorithmic, the platform indicates in its statement.
