“When the river sounds, it carries water”, a saying that in recent times in the Iberian Peninsula reaches a high level of realism that has not been seen for a long time. And if the droughts are increasingly longer and last longer, floods and excessive wetting of the soil are not good news either: “it never rains to everyone’s liking.”
And we are not just referring to the meteorological situation that we have been going through in Spain for many months. These are also regrettable resignations of those responsible for the countryside, starting with the Ministry of Agriculture, which, far from raising the technological, commercial and social levels of agriculture, makes everything difficult with a common agricultural policy, the CAP, which betrays the principles of the Treaty of Rome of 1957; or it does so with the inadequate EU/Mercosur treatment.
The EU border controls of the import quotas of authorized agricultural products are exceeded with total negligence, with unhealthy merchandise, and all to glorify itself from the Ministry with a “how beautiful I am and how well I do it!” When we have a field that can be full of problems and also possible corruptions. We will remember that “he who does not cry, does not suck”, and if Mr. Planas and the entire agrarian superstructure of Spain, and the rest of the European community, are no good, let them leave.
Loud, strong, and rightly so, are going to be the obligatory protests of the representatives of the almost million business owners and agricultural workers. Today, Friday, February 6, in Madrid, starting at 10 in the morning before the Congress of Deputies; and on Wednesday the 11th, the tractors leaving at 11 am from different points in the Community of Madrid, until they reach Atocha, in front of the Ministry of Agriculture itself. Don’t miss it!
