Cabo Cañaveral— Scientists have discovered an explosion of gamma rays outside our galaxy that is not only exceptionally powerful, but also lasting.
Telescopes on earth and space, including the HubbleThey have joined to study the unique high -energy radiation explosion observed for the first time in July. Astronomers reported Tuesday that it is different from everything they had witnessed before.
Repeated gamma ray bursts were detected during a day, according to scientists. That is very unusual since this type of outbreak usually lasts only minutes or even milliseconds, rarely more than a few hours, as the dying stars collapse or are destroyed by black holes.

The scientists said that an explosion of such long and recurring gamma is disconcerting, a cosmic mystery, at least for now. More observations are needed to confirm their precise location.
The team led by Europe announced its findings in Astrophysical Journal Letters in August.
