Aemet warns of a new batch of rain and storms

The passage of an Atlantic vaguada maintains under an episode of strong storms and heavy rains to a large part of the Mediterranean. According to the forecasts of the State Meteorology Agency (Aemet), the highest risk will be concentrated in the next few hours to the Balearic Islands, where very significant rainfall accumulations are expected that could exceed 140 liters per square meter in just three or four hours.

The archipelago remains with orange warning due to locally torrential rainfall. The Murcia region and the Valencian Community are added with the same risk where notices for heavy rains and storms that could be accompanied by hail and very strong wind gusts continue.

Instability will send Wednesday

Although a Progressive decrease in instability as of Wednesdayduring the early morning and early hours of the day, strong or very strong storms could still be registered in the Balearic Islands and, with less probability, on the Peninsular Mediterranean coast. Only Balearic Islands maintains the orange warning due to heavy rainshas indicated the Aemet.

In the afternoon, a Reventing of the trough towards the central Mediterraneanreferring instability and probability of rainfall, marking the end of the episode of heavy rains in most of the country.

Stability returns

On Thursday there will be an anticyclonic situation in almost the entire country, with a generalized promotion of temperatures. However, the peninsular north will continue under the influence of Atlantic circulation with very cloudy skies and rains and showers, occasionally with storms, more abundant and persistent in Galicia and in the western Cantabrian.

In the rest of the peninsula, cloudy intervals will predominate, especially during the morning, without discarding any weak rain in central and Iberian systems areas, and west peninsular. To the south and the east peninsular the heavens will be clearer.

In the Canary Islands, cloudy intervals are expected in the north of the islands, with weak rainfall, less likely in the easternmost, and little cloudy skies in the rest. As for temperatures, a general promotion is expected except for the minimums at the peninsular northeast end with slight changes or in slight decrease.

Friday with new instability in northeastern

VierneS will arrive with a new Atlantic circulation that will leave instability in the Northern Mediterranean area with isolated showers and storms in Catalan coastlines, without ruling out the Balearic Islands. The maximum temperatures will descend at the north and east ends of the Peninsula and increase in the southern and Canary Atlantic aspect.
