The organization Karso citizens (CDK) began to present this Saturday what the Karso Institute of Puerto Rico and the Caribbeanwhich will have a world caliber research center and a natural history museum, in the heart of Arecibo.
During the “The Karso in Action for Earth” fair, a model was shown with the design for the structure, which places at the old FD Roosevelt school, on the La Monserrate hill, about 150 meters from the Arecibeña public square.
“It is a historical place in Arecibo, which represents, once the project is completed, an aid to urban development of Puerto Rico, from Arecibo in particular. With tourists who come to the museum, (also) it will help the economy to Arecibeña bringing public that is not of Arecibo, but that obviously contributes to the local economy”he shared Abel Vale Nievespresident of CDK, by telephone.
The organization, which 30 years ago protects the natural and cultural wealth of the Puerto Rican Karso, received the title of property, at the end of 2016. After long cleaning days, studies to make sure the state of the structure and development of the business plan, they will begin a first phase of repairs.
Particularly, Nieves explained Vale, there will be a treatment to cover all porosity that the cement has acquired the building, since its construction, in 1938.
During the activity, more than 150 people accessed a day of talks that combined community education for the protection of natural resources and art.
The first talk was in charge of Vale Nieves, who talked about the importance of Karso and why he must protect himself. The doctor followed him Alberto Puentewho talked about the Sapo Concho and its recovery process in Puerto Rico. Finally, was the doctor Ariel Lugowho reported on the increase in sea level, as a consequence of climate change, and the impact it will have on the archipelago.

In the midst of each talk, there were dynamics in which plastic artists represented, in their art, the essence of what the lecturer communicated to the public.
“Any effort that makes us more aware of all human beings, whether adults or children, about the importance of nature, and in particular karso, is to understand that nature can live without us. But we cannot live without nature”said Vale Nieves about the importance of gesturing this type of initiatives.
The copious rains that the country has experienced did not amilant the assistance to the event, which was attended by artisans, other community groups and childhood activities, to encourage, through the game, the protection of nature from the first years.
