During the summer, Google announced that the update to Android 15 would have a function linked to mobile theft: it is the theft detection block for Android phones. Initially, a beta version was tested in Brazil, but now there are users from other countries who point out that their phones already have it.
In total, Google is rolling out three new features aimed at making it harder for thieves to access the data on our phones. Android news expert Mishaal Rahman posted on X that the features appear in a new update after seeing that his Xiaomi 14T Pro phone now has theft detection lock and offline device locktwo of the three features that Google announced in May. Others say they only see the third, the so-called remote lock.
Google is starting to roll out Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock to Android users in the US!
I just checked my Xiaomi 14T Pro and noticed that I have Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device Lock but not Remote Lock. Some Pixel users in the US tell me… pic.twitter.com/oxOpCFpex8

The most striking of the new features is the theft detection lock, which uses AI to lock your screen when it detects “common movement associated with theft” thanks to the accelerometer: a sudden movement associated with someone taking the phone out of our hands.
The offline device lock, meanwhile, locks a device’s screen when offline for a whileand Remote Lock (as the name suggests) allows users to lock their phone using only their phone number when they cannot log in to Find My Device with their password.
Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device Lock are supported on any Android device you have. Android 10 or later, while for remote locking you will need at least Android 5. If you don’t have the features yet, you can try updating Google Play Services, although Google usually rolls out new features over time, rather than for everyone at once, so you may have to wait.
It also depends a little on the mobile models we have, each manufacturer adapts these updates to its time and some may take a little longer, but before the end of the year everyone will have it.
