The scenarios are numerous. You want to save photos to a physical file, but you don’t have a PC at hand. You find an old cell phone with important files and you want to send them to someone or to yourself. Or you have to pass information immediately, but doing it over the network will take a long time. In these cases, the best option would be to connect the mobile phone to a PC and download the data to a USB. The problem is, if you don’t have a computer at hand. Fortunately there is a solution.
It is a small device, about the size of a thumb, called an OTG adapter (which stands for On the Go). They are sold online and their price starts at 5 euros. All Android phones are compatible with this system. OTG adapters are basically a pendrive only that instead of having a USB connector at one end, it has one USB and another at the opposite endwhich allows you to connect it to the mobile charging port (a USB-C).
Being so small and compatible with any device with a USB-C charging port, It can be carried in a pocket or on a keychain and once we send the information, delete it to start again.
Of course, we must keep in mind that being so small, they do not have much capacity: the maximum is about 64 GB. It may not seem like much, but this is enough to store more than 2,000 photographs.
Its operation is simple, almost intuitive. We connect it to the phone using the appropriate connector port. The mobile will detect the connection and we will get a notice. It can be Added Storage or ask us what we want to do with the connected device, use it for charging, battery or memory. We select the preferred option (upload or download) and then the files to transfer.
The good thing is that we can save different folderssuch as text documents on one side, images on the other and audios in a different folder. And then select which one we want to transfer.
The transfer It is not immediate and depends a lot on the size of the file(s) that we are sending, but it is undoubtedly much faster than doing it over the internet or Bluetooth. And it also serves as a circumstantial memory, small but effective.
