Renovating a façade not only improves the aesthetics of the building, it can also lead to significant energy savings and a revaluation of the property. In recent years, the Community of Madrid has launched different public aid programs to encourage this type of intervention, but many homeowner communities do not know where to start.
To resolve the most common doubts, we spoke with José Antonio Crego Fernández, manager of Sol Fachadas SL, company with more than 25 years of experience in vertical work and rehabilitation of facades in Madrid, recently recognized in the Construction and Housing Awards organized by La Razón. In this interview they offer us a clear vision of the aid available, how to request it and what to take into account.
What types of aid currently exist to rehabilitate a facade?
José Antonio: “In recent years, several lines of aid have been emerging, some focused on improving accessibility (installation of ramps, elimination of architectural barriers), others in the energy efficiency (such as the PIREP program or the energy rehabilitation plan for residential buildings), and also more general aid for the conservation and structural rehabilitation of facades.
In addition, there are specific plans for urban areas called Programmed Rehabilitation Residential Environments (ERRP), where aid can be even more favorable. Each call has its own requirements, so it is key to analyze each case. At Sol Fachadas, we have direct experience in the execution of vertical work in Madrid, we are already familiar with this type of projects and we know how to adapt them to the technical criteria required by the different calls.”
