From Hong Kong An innovative sleeping bag concept arrives that allows you to protect yourself in extreme conditions, up to -30 °C. Graphene-X is a company that manufactures clothing and equipment for outdoor activities that now enters the camping market with the new Tardigrade Sleeping System o Tardigrade sleep system, a product that can be purchased through the Kickstarter platform.
This sleeping bag is a modular systemcomposed of three pieces that can be purchased separately according to needs, inspired by the resistance of the tardigradewhich is often considered one of the most resistant organisms on Earth, capable of withstanding a temperature range of between 150 °C and -272 °C, which uses advanced materials similar to those used in NASA space missions to redefine the way campers stay at a reasonable temperature during their outdoor outings.

The Tardigrade Sleeping System addresses the problem of having to use several specialized sleeping bags depending on the season and is presented as a solution for both winter and summer camping.
The modular system consists of three components:
- Tardigrade Extreme It is oriented towards winter and prepared for temperatures down to -30 °C. Its weight is 1.9 kg.
- Tardigrade Lite It is designed for the rest of the seasons and can be used with temperatures down to -10 °C. It weighs 1.4 kg.
- The modular insulation layer It weighs 334 g and can be attached to the inside of either bag using buckles to provide more warmth.
All three pieces use graphene. This material is used for its thermal conductivity and its ability to retain its properties after multiple washes. Tardigrade Extreme and the modular layer have 150 g/m² Graphinsulate filling, with graphene and airgel integrated, while Tardigrade Lite remains in 80 g/m².
Airgel is what links the Tardigrade Sleeping System to NASA. It is about an ultralight material that is created by replacing the liquid present in a gel with air and that has been used by the agency on space missions.
Here is the base of the system Weather Adaptive InsulationWAI or Insulation adaptable to climatic conditions. The airgel is embedded in polyester fibers within internal fabric tubes that They inflate when it is cold, further isolating the user from the environment, and deflate when hot. It is a passive system that automatically adapts and does not require any type of electronics or batteries.
The system also includes zippers in the arm areas to facilitate movement while limiting the entry of cold air into the bag and can be used with inflatable mattresses of 220×56-65x8cm. To prevent the user from sliding off the mat, the bags incorporate elastic fasteners that keep the mattress in place.
