It’s hard to keep up with WhatsApp. The messaging application has evolved a lot in its 15 years of existenceand, at this point, it has accumulated countless functions that, at the beginning, users never even thought of using them. The most important ones are in the foreground so that anyone can see them and access them easily, but Many others require searching through menus that are not available at first glance. and which, in fact, can go perfectly unnoticed.
One of them is a recent innovation that makes it easier Better management of unread messages. This is a ‘hidden’ menu that allows Mark all unopened messages in a chat as read.
This feature is particularly useful in the groupswhich are often left unused. This causes the number shown in the green circle with the number of unread messages to increase over time, but with this function you can make them disappear with just two taps on the screen. You can use this feature in all chats, both in the chat tab and in the chats tab. All as in that of Unread either Groups. You must follow these steps:
- Open WhatsApp on your mobile.
- By default, WhatsApp shows you the chats grouped under the filter Allbut you can select any other if you prefer.
- Long press on the selected filter and the option will appear Mark as read in a pop-up menu.
- Select it to mark all messages in the selected chats as read.
How to mark a chat as unread again
It may happen that, after having carried out the previous operation, you want to keep the messages of some of the conversations grouped under a filter as pending reading. For this, another practical WhatsApp function will be useful, which is the green circle. This is an icon displayed next to a conversation, which does not contain the number of pending messages to be read, but indicates that there are messages to be read. To activate it, follow these steps:
- Enter in WhatsApp on your mobile.
- Press and hold the conversation you want to highlight with a green dot to select it. You can do this with multiple chats at once if you need to.
- Tap on the menu of the three vertical points.
- In the menu that appears, select Mark as unread. The green dot will be displayed until you enter the chat again or deactivate it by following the same steps and choosing Mark as read.
