The time at the start of this Easter week will be marked by a drastic change that will force the recovery of warm clothing and by the pPossible arrival of a DANA which adds uncertainty to the forecast. As confirmed by Rubén del Campo, spokesperson for the AEMET, the highlight of the next few days will be a pronounced thermal decrease in the peninsula and the Balearic Islandsleaving an unusually cold environment for the time in much of the country.
During this Thursdaymaximum temperatures will experience a drop of between 6 and 8 degrees compared to Wednesday in much of the peninsula. However, Andalusia will experience a marked contrast where the thermometers will even rise, placing Seville in the vicinity of the 27 degreeswhile northern cities like Burgos or Soria will not even be able to reach 10 degrees.
In addition, seven autonomous communities are under warning for strong wind, sea storm and/or snowthree of them at orange level. Catalonia and the Valencian Community remain on orange alert for Wind gusts that could reach 120 kilometers per hour in the southern prelittoral of Tarragona and in the northern interior and northern coast of Castellón.
For its part, the Ampurdán in Girona and the island of Menorca are under orange warning due to a strong tmaritime storm with waves up to 10 meters highwhile in Mallorca waves of 8 meters are expected.
At a lower risk level, under yellow notice, there are Almería, Cádiz and A Coruña due to coastal phenomena, the three provinces of Aragón due to wind gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour and the Navarrese Pyreneeswhere they are expected snow accumulations greater than 5 centimeters above 900 meters.
Stabilization and frost on the weekend
He Friday more stable weather will prevail, although with possible weak rains in the Cantabrian Sea, the southeast and the Balearic Islands, as well as the north of Canarias. On this day, the maximum temperatures will drop in the southern third, with about 22 degrees in the Guadalquivir, but they will rise in the rest of the territory, reaching 20 degrees in the center and moving between 10 and 14 degrees in the northern half of the peninsula.
Facing the Saturdaythe atmosphere will remain fresh with frost in mountain areas and inland moors. Although the weather will remain stable in most regions, The Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees will register rainwith a snow level that will be between 1,000 and 1,200 meters in the Pyrenean mountain range.
Palm Sunday in winter weather
He Palm Sunday is emerging as a fully winter day. The AEMET spokesperson has indicated that the thermal drop will be especially intense that day, leaving maximums of just 11 to 13 degrees in much of the northern and eastern interior of the peninsulawith values that could fall below 10 degrees in some points.
The night frosts will take center stage in the interior, with mminimum temperatures that in Teruel could drop to 2 degrees below zero. Furthermore, they are expected rains in the Cantabrian Sea, the Pyrenees, the upper Ebro and the Balearic Islands.
A DANA threatens these areas
According to Meteored, the evolution of a DANA will be key in the development of the weather during Palm Sunday. The latest model updates still show high uncertainty and propose two main scenarios.
The most probable scenario indicates that the DANA will pass over the vertical of the eastern peninsula, which would generate locally intense showers and storms in the Valencian Community, Region of Murcia, Melilla, Balearic Islands and the easternmost area of Andalusiaa, with snow in the mountains.
However, other models suggest that The depression could move further east, over the Balearic archipelago, which would restrict precipitation exclusively to the islands and would leave the rest of the Mediterranean coast on the sidelines.
In addition, Meteored points out that between Saturday and Sunday, a northerly air flow will cause very overcast skies and lrains on the Cantabrian slope, Navarra, the northern Iberian system and the Pyrenees.
Looking ahead to Monday and until the first half of Holy Wednesday, the rains could reactivate in the area around the Bay of Biscay and the north of Navarreto. In the rest of peninsular Spain, the situation invites optimism, since, a priori, no rain is expected.
For the final stretch of Holy Week there is nothing clear, although Meteored points out that the possible presence of the anticyclone increases the probability of more stable weather in most of the territory.
