The indiscreet camera that shows how Hamas treats its prisoners

When the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) entered the Al Katiba detention center in Gaza, they found a series of tiny cells and interrogation rooms and, to their surprise, a collection of iimages that attest to the treatment that inmates received at the hands of the Hamas security service.

The videos, analyzed by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), show prison guards attacking prisoners and confining them in some of the cells in very precarious conditions.

One of these videos, recorded in 2023, has now been shown by the IDF on its social networks. In the sequence, which lasts just over a minute and a half, you can see how one of the prisoners is violently thrown stairs down the first flight of steps and then forcibly grabbed to be taken to the dungeons.

In another sequence you can see how one of the prisoners spends a whole day lying on the floor of one of the cells in which he barely fits.

The surveillance footage is dated 2023 and captured Hamas’ Al-Katiba prison in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City. “The two terrorists were identified as Mohammed Mohammed Shaaban Shubaki and Mahmoud Saber Mahmoud Abd Al-Al. “Both are members of Hamas’ internal security agency, which is responsible for detaining and imprisoning Gaza residents,” the Israeli military explained.

“These videos, taken from prison security cameras, show Hamas prison guards holding prisoners in brutal conditions that violate their most basic human rights,” the IDF states on its X account.

“Hamas attempts to distance itself from the Assad regime and the horrors of its prisons currently on display, the newly released videos, along with past revelations of torture during Hamas interrogations, leave no doubt: Hamas is no less brutal,” added the IDF Arabic spokesperson.
