The gadget of the summer: Beko bPRO500 series dishwasher, silence and cleanliness

There are appliances that try to attract attention with a long list of functions and a manual of hundreds of pages. And then there are those that incorporate technology precisely so that we have to worry less about them. He Beko BDFN36560XWP (his full name) belongs quite a bit to this second category. It is a 60-centimetre free-standing dishwasher, with capacity for 15 services, energy classification A and a noise level of only 41 dBA. That is, it does not need to be integrated into the kitchen furniture: it is placed as an independent appliance and is prepared to work practically without being noticed.

And there is a feature that sums up its philosophy quite well: SensorAdapt, a dirt sensor that allows the device to detect load conditions and adapt the washing program. In a sense, the most efficient dishwashers work like robot vacuum cleaners: they detect dirt in the environment and “emphasize” this area. They have cleaning programs and can be programmed to do their task at certain times (this Beko model can be programmed up to 24 hours in advance). Of course, taking into account that they are becoming more frequent, companies should start thinking about a name for their models and not about acronyms or cryptic nomenclatures.

That said, there is something I have discovered in just over a month of use. Not every day we put the same dishes in the dishwasher or with the same degree of dirt. A dinner with slightly stained glasses and plates does not necessarily need the same treatment as a family meal with a platter full of food scraps. The BDFN36560XWP (from now on colloquially the Beko Sensor) incorporates a dirt sensor and the SensorAdapt program uses that information to adjust the washing process. The idea is simple: that the machine does not always have to work with the same intensity regardless of what it finds inside.

It is one of those technologies that may not be as impressive as a huge screen, connectivity or a versatile application, but that not only makes a lot of sense in an appliance whose objective is precisely to automate a repetitive task, but should be the standard. In addition 11 programs, including Intensive 70 °C, Eco 50 °C, Quick & Shine, Mini and SensorAdapt. Also allows you to download additional programs through HomeWhiz, including AquaFlex, SilentWash, Delicate 40, Clean & Shine and Prewash.

Capacity is another of its strong points. In a home with teenagers, pets and guests at town parties, it is appreciated. Especially when the day arrives when the teenager on duty decides to clean the room and magically the 37 missing glasses appear. Its 15 services place it in a considerable capacity for a 60 centimeter machine. The interior layout includes a third Flexi 3rd Rack tray for cutlery and small utensils, while the upper basket can be adjusted in height even when loaded thanks to its three-position adjustment system. Another detail that makes the difference: It is obvious that Beko has worked with users and routines to consider household items and go from a dishwasher to a “meeting washing machine.”…If I could only deal with tablecloths it would already be the favorite of many homes.

The lower basket incorporates 12 folding supports, while the upper one has six and Soft Spike elements to facilitate the placement of certain containers. In In practice this is synonymous with versatility: It’s not just about chainrings and even less about a fixed diameter or geometry. Everything that has been used in a summer or party agape comes in here.

Something I should also highlight is the PowerIntense system: not all sauces or baking dishes remove dirt in the same way. We all know that certain masses, when they dry, establish a lasting relationship with the container, one with shades of fidelity that are consolidated for years. The PowerIntense system is based on a spray arm designed to concentrate more powerful cleaning on the areas that need it.

And then silence. Those who have finished a meeting late at night and have the discipline and perseverance to fill the dishwasher at odd hours know that they arrive at that moment “with the rest” and then go to sleep. Until we begin to hear the symphony of foam and jets against glass, crystal, ceramic and other surfaces. The BekoSensor (non-proprietary and invented name) has a sound output of 41 decibels. And that makes silence also a benefit

The figure is especially important in a kitchen open to the living room or when we want to put the dishwasher on at night. And if we add to that the SilentWash function, which allows you to use a cycle designed to further reduce the acoustic presence of the devicealthough Beko itself offers this function as a downloadable program and should not be confused with 41 dBA being the level of all programs.

Another confession: at home I don’t do the ironing and I do take care of the dishwashing. After years of management in this field I could boast of having created a system that consumed very little water… This dishwasher consumes 8.9 liters of water per cycle. Much less than what was my record if we equate cleaning volume. And it also has a half charge, a practical function when we do not want to wait until the device is completely full.

As befits an appliance in this range, the BDFN36560XWP incorporates HomeWhiz connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Connectivity allows access to additional functions and downloadable programs, in addition to expanding the control possibilities of the device. It is probably not a must-have feature when purchasing a dishwasher, but It can be useful for those who have already incorporated other connected appliances into their home. Of course, there could be some improvements here: if we use an app to remotely control the situation, we shouldn’t have to be nearby to confirm it. Surely it can be changed in future updates.

An interesting detail: not everything ends when the wash is finished. The model incorporates SelfDry, a function designed to improve drying management, and SteamGloss, which Beko uses to improve the result on tableware and, especially, glass pieces. It also incorporates SuperRinse, an additional rinse function. That it is free (and actually easy) to install is a fundamental detail that allows many of us to feel like a handyman, when in general we do not distinguish one cable from another. Taking into account its price (599 euros) and its versatility, efficiency and silence, we are looking at one of the gadgets of the summer and parties.
