The AEMET updates the forecast on the new DANA and alerts of “important danger” in these provinces

The arrival of a DANA to the peninsula keeps eight communities on alert for heavy rain, waves, wind or snow. The Mediterranean areas, especially the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and the Valencian Community, have activated orange alertsmainly due to coastal phenomena and heavy rainfall, which could reach up to 40 liters per square meter in one hour.

In the Balearic Islands, The islands of Ibiza, Formentera and Mallorca are under orange noticewith a significant risk of rain that will reach 40 liters per square meter in one hour or 100 liters in 12 hours. Storms are also expected, and Menorca remains at yellow level with rainfall of 20 liters per hour, as well as northerly winds of between 50 and 60 km/h and waves of up to 3 meters.

In Catalonia, Girona has issued an orange alert for adverse maritime conditions, with winds of up to 70 km/h and waves that could reach up to 7 meters. The provinces of Barcelona and Tarragona are on yellow alert due to storms and rains that will leave about 20 liters per square meter in one hour.

The Valencian Community has activated the orange alert in Valencia and Alicanteespecially in coastal areas, due to intense rainfall of up to 40 liters per hour and the possibility of storms. The alert in this region is expected from 9:00 p.m. Castellon It maintains a yellow warning due to rain that could leave 20 liters in one hour. In Murciayellow level is expected in the Guadalentín valley, Lorca, Águilas, Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón, with rains of 20 liters per hour and storms.

Asturias There is a yellow alert for snow in the Cordillera and Picos de Europa, with accumulations of up to 5 cm above 1,100 meters. In Castile and Leónit is expected snow in the Cantabrian mountain range in León and Palenciafrom 1,200 meters altitude. Temperatures will drop across the board, notably in the Pyrenees, while in the southern third of the peninsula they will only drop slightly.
