The AEMET predicts a Sunday spent in water for half of Spain thanks to the passage of an active Atlantic front

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) announces a Sunday markedly unstable for a large part of the Spanish geography, with the arrival of an Atlantic front that will leave very cloudy or overcast skies in most of the Peninsula. The prediction foresees a significantly rainy day, especially in the northwest half, where precipitation will be widespread and persistent in some places.

The communities most affected by the rains will be Galicia and Asturiaswhere abundant rainfall accompanied by occasional storms is expected.

On the Galician Atlantic coasts, showers could be particularly intense and persistent, becoming locally strong. Furthermore, it is planned morning fog banks in the eastern third of the peninsula and mists in the northwest.

Generalized thermal change

Temperatures will experience a notable change this Sunday, with a general decrease in maximum temperatures in most of the northwest half of the peninsula. This decrease will be especially significant in areas of Galiciawhere the thermometer will show values ​​significantly lower than those recorded in previous days. On the contrary, local increases are expected in Empordà and slight increases in regions of the east and southeast of the peninsula.

The wind regime will complete the scenario of adverse weatherblowing moderate easterly in the Alboran Sea and intervals of strong intensity in the Strait. In the north of Galicia, the Cantabrian Mountains and the upper Ebro, very strong gusts of wind are expected, which will tend to shift to the west after the passage of the front in Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea.

In the rest of the territory, the weather will present different characteristics. In the southern and eastern third of the peninsula, as well as in the Balearic Islands, the middle cloud intervals and tall. In the extreme east of Catalonia, showers will be likely, while in the more prominent Canary Islands, cloudy skies are expected with weak rainfall that will tend to become clear throughout the day.

This meteorological situation marks the beginning of a seasonal change which could extend over the next few days, according to prediction models.
