The AEMET extends its warnings this Sunday and this Monday while the DANA Alice already causes havoc in areas of the Mediterranean

DANA Alice refuses to leave the Peninsula. This Sunday will continue to leave very unstable weather in the Mediterranean and the Balearic Islands, with locally strong storms and a much calmer and even hot atmosphere in the rest of the country.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the skies will be cloudy or overcast from early morning on the coast and pre-coast of the Valencian Community and Catalonia, as well as in the Balearic Islands. Precipitation will be widespread in these areas, with the probability of seeing strong or very strong showers in Castellón and Tarragona, where the accumulations could be significant in short periods of time.

In fact, the AEMET kept orange notices active last night for several autonomous communities this Sunday. The one for the Balearic Islands ended at 7:00 a.m. this Sunday on Hispanic Heritage Day, but the one for the Valencian Community will remain fixed for some areas until 11:00 a.m. and the AEMET will not lift the orange notice in Catalonia until late in the afternoon, proof that Alice is moving north. The Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands could return to normal and be left without warnings at 6:00 p.m., although for this Monday the AEMET already foresees an orange warning in areas of the Mediterranean.

In the rest of the eastern third of the peninsula, the skies will begin overcast and will tend to open as the day progresses. In central-eastern areas—especially in the province of Teruel—the formation of scattered storms during the afternoon is not ruled out. In the Strait, the sky will remain with cloudy intervals, with the possibility of some weak precipitation.

The contrast with the rest of the country will be notable. Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura will enjoy clear skies or high clouds, and a more stable environment. Temperatures will continue to be high for the season, especially in the Guadalquivir valley, where thermometers could approach 33 ºC.

A thermal rebound is also expected in the Cantabrian Sea, the Balearic Islands and the southeast quadrant of the peninsula, while in Catalonia the maximum temperatures will decrease slightly. The minimums, on the other hand, will rise in the center and the northern half, remaining without major changes in the rest. In the Pyrenees there could still be weak frosts in high areas.
