His name is SergioHe is 45 years old and works in a printing house. He lives with his partner in Logroño. This friendly man from La Rioja says that his life today is, basically, calmer, much calmer.
A little less than a year ago, on one of his daily trips to work, he stopped refuel at a gas station from Nalda, a municipality 17 kilometres from the capital. Fate wanted that this act, apparently so banal and everyday, to substantially fatten Sergio’s bank account. Of the hundreds of vehicles that use this establishment daily, only one of the more than 3,300 that Repsol has distributed throughout the country, chance chose to refuel the Seat Ibiza that is more than 20 years old.
Sergio’s refueling was the winner of the “How good a kilo of extra feels” campaign that the multi-energy company launched in the summer of last year to raffle off one million euros among the user community who use their popular payment app Waylet.
Two months after getting married, Sergio received the news: “You can imagine, it was a huge joy. We couldn’t believe it,” he explains to us almost a year later. “Many, including myself, tend to believe that these awards are just publicity that never happens, but when you are the winner…”
The calm way Sergio approaches the interview already makes you suspect that he is going to contradict that legend that says that many lottery winners end up alone and broke. “My life, in terms of habits and so on, has not changed. I continue doing the same thing, I’m still with the same people, with the same friendswith my same hobbies, I continue working,” he says without giving himself the slightest importance.
“What does change is your mental state, having that financial solvency gives you a lot of peace of mind, you see everything much more relaxed and gives you comfort to continue living“so I wouldn’t have to spend all day looking at my bank account,” he says, after explaining that when they won the prize they took the opportunity to change their Ibiza that had been around for more than 20 years and to buy a flat “better than we had anticipated.” “I also wanted to buy a bike, but I’m still just as lazy,” he admits.
Another kilo
“My wife is from Madrid, so between trips to see the family and work trips we do around 400 kilometres a month,” says Sergio, who this summer will once again participate in the campaign “A kilo for a quiet summer”, which will raffle another million euros among the more than 8 million Waylet users who refuel with 30 euros or more between July 11 and September 8.
Taking advantage of its presence throughout the energy chain, Repsol offers savings plans with differential discounts depending on the portfolio of products contracted: fuel, electricity, heating, solar and electric mobility.
The Discounts in the form of balance in the app They range from 5 cents per litre of fuel for users of service stations only to 20 euro cents per litre and 100% of the amount for recharging electric vehicles at the company’s public points and service stations for those who contract all available services. 2.2 million people participated in the 2023 draw, obtaining a savings balance equivalent to 14.9 million euros according to Repsol calculations.
Sergio, who also has electricity and gas contracted in his home with Repsol, save 15 cents per litre of fuel when he pays for his refuelling with Waylet, the leading loyalty and payment app in the sector. “I think I must have been one of the first users, I installed the app as soon as I saw the first advert,” explains this man from La Rioja… very calmly.
