maplewood – A robot that knows how to twerk, 3D monitors without glasses or a photo frame with artificial intelligence (AI) in which the people portrayed wave when someone passes by, are some of the technological innovations that were presented this Wednesday at the New Jersey Spring Tech Showcase, in Maplewood, New Jersey.
The event held today brought together more than forty interactive technology demonstrations and showcased the latest advances in the industry, ranging from robotics to AI devices directly applied to making household tasks easier.
One of the most popular presentations was the dancing robot Wallbots New Yorkwho performed to the sound of Latin music, specifically the hit “Despacito” by Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi. As the founder of the company explained to EFE, Johnny Rubinovthese automata, manufactured in China and those who are exclusive distributors in USAare making their way into the commercial and service sector, managing to increase the income of establishments such as hairdressers and beauty salons by up to 30%.
The company customizes its robots so that they are able to welcome, interact with customers and act as a visual attraction that invites passers-by to enter the premises.
With a base price starting at $50,000, plus a monthly fee for technical support and customization, this technology is already being implemented in a pioneering way in businesses in New York, jewelry stores, a museum in California and even in a Taco Bell restaurant, according to Rubinov.
“You can have them say hello by saying, ‘Welcome to the restaurant, here’s the menu,’ and they guide you in. He’s very good for museums, he can say ‘come this way, I’ll show you this exhibit and tell you about it,’ and he’s also able to dance and twerk,” explains Rubinov.
For its part, the technology company Zondition presented ZIMO1, an innovative 27-inch interactive monitor that offers a real three-dimensional experience without the need to use glasses.
The device, which began its fundraising campaign on the Kickstarter platform this April 21, has an initial price of $999 and is based on the incorporation of three cameras and an AI-powered system of dual eye tracking at 120Hz, which simultaneously projects two different images, one for each eye.
Devices designed for daily use were also presented, such as the latest toothbrush from the TAO Clean brand – also known as The Art of Clean -, a device that stands out for including a docking base designed to clean with ultraviolet light, dry and recharge the brush automatically after each use.
