Morocco harasses, Sánchez remains silent

I have no doubt that Pedro Sánchez will have spent his last days in La Mareta farming aura. After all, recommending unread books and playlists is getting old and the president likes to always be up to date when it comes to poses. Besides, it’s his thing: if farming aura means having presence, being the coolest, the coolest, well, that suits him like a glove and although the Pope stepped on the six-seven, he always has the mewing, that gesture of running his finger over his jaw to highlight the packaging and the cockiness.

He is going to need the aura, because there is no story or charisma that can lift the inaction, the bungling and the discredit in which he has plunged with the non-management of the most serious crisis suffered by our country since 23-F. And he did one thing well: affirm that the entry of the equivalent of an Army Corps of civilians into Ceuta was an attack on territorial integrity and a violation of our sovereignty.

What has less explanation is that having been able to make the precise diagnosis from the beginning, he has done absolutely nothing to respond to such a serious circumstance. If you detect a hybrid attack against your borders, the least you need to know is who it comes from and the most you need to confront it. Neither one thing nor the other.

The Moroccans, however, have not stopped from day one to fabricate their own false story and turn it into a series of kicks in the gonads to Spain and its Government, once it was proven that they would have no consequences.

To begin with, in addition to the absurd controversy about whether or not they realized what was happening and whether they stopped it, they used social networks and the Moroccan media that they control to not only impose their story, but to carry out a brutal campaign to vindicate the Moroccan identity of Ceuta and Melilla.

Look, they have claimed them since their origin as a country in 1956, but never with the intensity, impudence and strength with which they have done so coinciding with the consented invasion of civilians. From influencers riding a jet ski around the “Moroccan” rocks to accounts that claimed that the Umayyad dominion over the peninsula was actually a Moroccan dominion. So all of us Spaniards have a Moroccan mix, the Giralda is a copy of a tower in Rabat and the Alhambra is due to them. Bullshit, they will say. Agitation of the masses to exploit success, rather.

All of this could have remained an agitprop anecdote if the statements by members of the Moroccan Government had not come into play. His Minister of Justice, for example, to which no one from our Government has yet responded. When the mud comes from different sides, it doesn’t seem to bother them. These days Abdellatif Ouahbi gave an interview to the Al Arabiya network with very harsh statements, even if what the Moroccans are doing is farming their own aura. We don’t even talk about calling your ambassador, of course. “Of course, we are following the matter as a whole,” he says when asked about the videos in which those who crossed the border claim that they turned a blind eye in Morocco. I was there when it happened. “I was in the north and I saw many young people, children and adolescents heading towards Ceuta.”

They will think you are confessing that they did nothing. He is doing it. But they know little about the leaders of the Alawite regime if they are surprised by the reason he gives in his defense: “If we had entered into direct confrontation with them we could have caused many victims. That is why we manage the crisis with intelligence, serenity and responsibility”, and it remains so broad. That’s when Albares, Elma and the rest arrive to pat the back of the loyal partner who insists that the dead are Spain’s business.

Wait, the impudence goes even further. In other words, they win against the entire Sánchez Government meeting in the Council of Ministers. Ouahbi continues saying that “some young people told us: I want to enter Ceuta because Ceuta is Moroccan. How could I stop them from thinking like that? He goes further, talking about not being able to stop what is a constitutional right to move through the territory of Morocco. Has there ever been this level of insolence on the part of a loyal partner?

The campaign on the sovereignty of Spanish cities is not banal, but rather core. I would even tell you that it is the crux of the matter from the beginning. That is why the invasion was a gesture of hybrid war and that is why the supposedly humanitarian response of the Government and its associates is totally inappropriate.

The Moroccan minister puts the icing on the cake and dismisses that a police solution is going to be enough: “The only lasting solution is to reach an agreement with Spain, adopt definitive decisions and establish permanent procedures.” And yes, he is talking about negotiating issues related to Spanish sovereignty and no, no one from the Spanish Government has said even half a word in response.

The thing doesn’t stop there. Let’s look at the official website of Defense Atlas, a think-tank that, in practice, operates under the dynamics of what is known in intelligence as “hybrid information warfare” and which is nothing more than a tool whose revelations are strategically aligned with Morocco’s defense agenda, serving to put diplomatic pressure on Algeria and justify the movements of the Alawite kingdom to external allies such as Spain or the United States. On Sunday he picked up the phone with the following message: “Urgent. Ceuta. Military estimates and security analyzes indicate that the Spanish army will not be able to stop any Moroccan military movement towards the occupied cities. “The Moroccan Army is capable of rapidly deploying within Ceuta in a surprising, rapid and overwhelming manner, and will use advanced capabilities in electronic warfare and effective search and confrontation tactics against hostile forces, along with field plans for the protection of civilians.”

The threat does not stop there. Defense Atlas itself has published a video in which under the slogan: «There are no Moors on the coast. Are you sure? Written in Spanish, below you can see images of submarines, divers and divers powered by devices that disembark in a territory. It is a direct threat. Pure psychological hybrid warfare. No one will answer either.

Let’s not do anything. These are things that just happen. Loyal allies with whom you do not need enemies. The bad thing is that we have had to deal with it in the hands of the most ineffective government in democracy or precisely that is why we are forced to deal with it.
