MAPY is already globally available by having adopted an international domain to apply as the European alternative to Google Maps, after having created 25 years ago and having been operational as a local tool. The application has been operated since 1998 in the Czech Republic and during all these years it has been a local service in the Czech country that has been improving its benefits, especially since it was acquired by Seznam.
The decisive advance has been given this year, when the domain .CZ have changed for a .com, and have begun to operate globally to try to reach more users, as reported by the application developer last March, so it is already available in web application, as well as in Google Play Store and App Store. Seznam pointed out that the intention of this movement is to improve its maps worldwide, and offer more detailed hiking trails, as well as recommend restaurants with good assessments, local user advice and information on real -time traffic.
“Users from different countries will contribute to improving the application using navigation, adding new places, updating information, uploading photos and reviewing coffee shops, restaurants and hotels,” the company said in the March statement. Likewise, this application also stands out for its autonomy, since it does not use Google information to create its maps and routes, but uses its own information and OpenStreetmap for the rest of the countries that are not the Czech Republic.
The Czech ‘app’ has a free version and another ‘premium’, which for 19 euros a year offers from running or doing different sports to a speed meter.
