The Municipal Police of Manatee and the Vigilant Corps of the Natural and Environmental Resources Department (DRNA) investigate the death of a caiman that, allegedly, he received a series of blows from a man whose partner recorded the event.
Drna’s secretary, Waldemar Quiles Pérezhe said, in written statements, that he witnessed the alleged attack recorded on May 11 at kilometer 4.1 of the PR-686 road, in the jurisdiction of Manatí.
The official said he was driving in the area when he witnessed the alleged act. Quiles Pérez argued that the Cayman, three and a half feet long, was attacked by a man while a woman recorded the act on her cell phone and in the presence of a minor.
“The citizen, noticing that I stop with the intention of attending to this abuse, was mounted, next to the lady and the minor, in a minivan vehicle and left for the place”Quiles denounced, who shared the details of the vehicle with the body of guards for the purposes of the investigation.
Quiles Pérez added that a veterinarian certified that the Cayman died as a result of the blows he received.
“Violence against an animal is unacceptable. These acts are deplored and will be processed in a Dejusticia court, which I will attend as a witness of the facts on each occasion that is cited”Quiles Pérez sentenced.
