December has started with a winter atmosphere in much of Spain, marked by persistent rains, snowfall at mid-levels and a notable drop in temperatures. This meteorological pattern will continue over the next few days, with episodes of snow in mountain areas and in some plateau areas, in addition to rain that will affect a good part of the territory and frost in different regions.

Madrid and Castilla y León are on yellow alert this Tuesday due to snowfallwith accumulations greater than 5 cm in 24 hours from 1,200–1,400 meters, while five other communities remain under warning due to maritime storms. The snow episode will continue into Wednesday, affecting the sland of Madrid, the Iberian land of Burgos and the Central System, with decreasing levels and possible accumulations of 1–2 cm in nearby plateau areas. In the maritime storm, Asturias, Cantabria and Galicia are at orange level due to waves of 5 to 7 meters, and the Basque Country and Andalusia (Almería and the Granada coast) maintain a yellow warning due to risk for certain activities.
