Many of the readers of this column, “Planet Earth”, surely have feelings similar to those of the author, at certain moments in their daily lives. Suddenly, and urgently, we need to see the countryside with its free landscapes and horizons. This happens with intensity from time to time, with the idea of breaking the mental saturation of living in a city with all its stress, in the middle of nature, but barely being able to enjoy it.
Last Saturday with that crisis inside, without further ado, I called a friend (Juanjo), and together we planned a tour in a few minutes to see two architectural novelties not yet visited by either of us. Thus, riding in a comfortable and efficient Lexus, we got on National 2 to go to the city of Brihuega, remember, the city with echoes of the Battle of Guadalajara during the Civil War, and also the Royal Wool Factory that was built there in the 18th century, and later destroyed.
Now, instead of ruins, a beautiful private superinn stands, with an intelligent transformation of the previous factory construction: a good country hotel, with very well treated interior spaces and a formidable garden-park. Let the example of innovations like this spread in the midst of our fields.
The second piece of the trip was located in Molina de Aragón, on the route to Zaragoza, a new construction, the hundredth Paradores, I believe. In front of the walled enclosure of Molina (it was once a large independent manor, like that of Bilbao), and today it constitutes an architectural piece that is enhanced in an extraordinary, amazing way from the new inn. The building is completely new, and you get a truly unique landscape. Also congratulations.
