There is a myth that says that bad criticisms are more interesting to make, more fun. It may be true when writing them, but when what touches is to examine the experience (gastronomic, sports, artistic or technological), It will always be more fun if it is a good final product. And that is what happens with the 2025 edition of Matepad 11.5 of Huawei.
Let’s start with two obvious. The first of them are the cameras: 13 and 8 MP. Is it little? Yes. Is it enough? Also: there are very few who will use a tablet to take photographs And, unless they use it for video calls (they behave very well in this environment), little or no use we will give it.
And the second obviousness comes from the software: They do not have, natively, many applications linked to Google. We must clarify, for the umpteenth time, that this does not mean that we cannot use Gmail, YouTube or other options of the California house. It is enough to resort to Aurora Store, a “store” with applications “translated into the operating system of Huawei” and download the options we want. And it works perfect.
That said, we go with the fun. The first thing is the screen: 11.5 inches with Papermatte technology. What does this mean? First that reflexes are reduced when using it outdoors. Second that His “digital texture” somehow recreates the porosity of the paperallowing up to 10 different contact points with the finger or with the optical pencil. If the reflexes went for the surname Matte, Paper’s own name, has to do precisely with this permeability of the screen: it is a real fun using the touch screen.
For example, if we use Huawei’s own app, Gopaint, we have about 70 configuration options and up to 100 types of digital brushes different. The sharpness of colors, light and available tones generate involuntary frustration: we want to touch the role … one that really does not exist, but the tablet makes us believe that we have controlled the grammage, porosity and thickness.
If we talk about power, we are facing our own processor, A Kirin T82B of eight nuclei, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The screen has an update frequency of 120 Hz, logical, with the capabilities it offers for drawing.
As for the design, Matepad 11.5 has nothing special: it is a little thinner than its predecessors, with 6.1 mm thick, but a bit heavier (in total 515 grams). This may be due to an improved battery: This time it has a capacity of 10,100 mAh, which allows several days of general use. If we add to that a very effective fast charge, it is a tablet with which we can count for the usual tasks without fear of unforeseen events.
His price is € 399 with the keyboard and the case included. If we want the Huawei M-Pencil, highly recommended, the price rises to 19 euros … a huge difference compared to one of its competitors, the iPad 11: 529 euros for the basic version, plus € 89 for the optical pencil and 300 for the keyboard. Almost triple the Matepad.
The end point is provided by AI. The system improves handwriting (if we take very fast notes, these improve in visibility and readability)as well as searches and opening of apps with AI.
Verdict:
The current average of expenses in books of the school year in Spain is 400 euros, depending on the student’s stage. That is the average. Matepad 11.5 is designed for those who study or work, not only for their power, also for resistance, versatility and price, which includes the case and optical pencil. In this case we are talking about an investment in education, rather than an expense
