How to restart your computer if the Microsoft outage has affected you

CrowdStrike Engineering has identified a content implementation related to this issue and has reverted those changes and published a series of steps to resolve the issues for affected users.

1) Start Windows in safe mode or in Windows recovery environment

2) Type C:WindowsSystem32driversCrowdStrike

3) Locate the file that matches C-00000291*.sys and delete it

4) Start the computer normally.

This would be the file that would have caused all the trouble and has recently been updatedSo if you have received an update notification on your computer in the last week and you have updated it, you are most likely experiencing this issue.

In a thread posted on X, Microsoft notes that it is “investigating an issue affecting user ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services.”

“We are working to redirect the affected traffic to alternative systems to alleviate the impact in a more convenient way. We are still seeing a positive trend in service availability as we continue to reroute affected traffic. We still expect users will continue to see gradual relief as we continue to mitigate the issue.”
