The Chinese manufacturer Honor has announced what it calls Robot Phonea smartphone that for now is a concept and about which we will know more in the next Mobile World Congress. The phone stands out for incorporating a camera with a motorized arm that deploys from within the deviceallowing you to twist and rotate to record or take photos in any direction. You can also do it autonomously, powered by artificial intelligence.
For now, the terminal has only been seen in the form of CGI rendering in a promotional video, without any real prototype having yet appeared. At first glance, it looks like a normal smartphone, although a bit thick. Instead of the Honor logo, it shows the letter alphasymbol of Alpha Planthe corporate vision of the company. The main clue that it is not a common mobile phone is in the bulky camera moduledivided into two parts.
In the video you can see how it is deployed from the left side of the module. a mechanical arm with the camera while the robot lets out a giggle, and later other sounds like a super cute pet. As the video progresses, the camera moves by itself and is powered by what Honor calls a ‘super AI brain that perceives the world around you in an instant’in addition to having the ‘super mobility of a robot’.
With this AI and mobility, the device would have the capacity to auto frame photosbut also to tell those posing when to smile, make fun of people you pass on the street while in the user’s pocketcalming a baby or gazing in awe at the stars.
‘With the Robot Phone, Honor imagines the phone of the future as more than just a tool. becomes an emotional companion that perceives, adapts and evolves autonomously like a robotenriching the lives of its users with love, joy and wisdom,’ the company says in a press release.
The announcement of the Robot Phone was the one that closed the event in which Honor presented its two new flagships Magic 8which will go on sale in China this month and will reach the international market before the end of the year.
