The launch of the rehabilitation of the “Pyramid of the Italians” has begun with a first emergency intervention: a fence on the immediate perimeter of the mausoleum built in 1939 and a temporary door, as this newspaper announced.
The objective is for this Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), classified as such by the Junta de Castilla y León, to have a complete restoration.
The Pyramid Association of the Italians – which arises from the Association for Reconciliation and Historical Truth, which took over the transfer of the mound and the plot where it is located – has valued the intervention at around 800,000 euros.
The intention is to raise the money to undertake the necessary work, so This morning a fundraising campaign starts or “crowdfunding”, as sources from the entity have communicated to this newspaper.
Maintenance
The association is “directly involved in the conservation and maintenance” of an “emblematic monument” that “it is falling apart.”
“With a mixture of urgency and frustration,” those responsible recall that “with each passing day, the deterioration is greater and the loss is irreversible.” Although these sources consider that “The most painful thing is not the passage of time”but “silence and abandonment”.
The association criticizes that the institutions “have decided to look the other way” and claim not to have “any type of official aid or subsidy.”
For this reason, they appeal to the fact that the campaign “does not depend on a politician or a great patron”, but on people “who understand that history cannot be dropped by abandonment.”
“We need to raise 100,000 euros for the first repairs, the most urgent,” they explain. Each donation “is not just help,” they point out, but “the tool that repairs a crack, that stops a leak, that saves a piece of history.”
Mass mail
“We are 80,000 people receiving this email,” details the Association for Reconciliation and Historical Truth about the number of emissaries of the mass email launched in these same hours. “If only a small percentage collaborates, we will have achieved it”adventure.
A final warning makes it clear that “all the money will go entirely to the restoration works. There are no intermediaries. Every euro you donate will become saved assets.”
