Goodbye to the iPhone SE in Europe: the reason it is being withdrawn from the market

At the end of 2024, the iPhone SE, one of Apple’s most popular mid-range models, will say goodbye to key markets in Europe. Although this movement may surprise its followers, Apple is already preparing its replacement, a model that promises to surpass the previous one with significant improvements in power, performance and speed.

Since its launch in 2022, The iPhone SE has stood out for its compact design and excellent value for moneyearning a special place among the brand’s loyal customers. Equipped with the A15 Bionic chip, at the time it was positioned on par with the iPhone 13offering solid performance in an accessible format. However, with rapid technological evolution, this chip now falls behind the most advanced processors in Apple’s main line, making its renewal inevitable.

Why are they withdrawing the iPhone SE?

The reason behind this withdrawal is directly related to the new regulations of the European Union, which require all electronic devices to incorporate a USB-C charging port starting January 1, 2025. This forces Apple to stop selling the iPhone SE 2022, along with older iPhone 14 models, the last to include the brand’s signature Lightning port.

The replacement of the iPhone SE

Apple has wasted no time and already has plans in place to present a new version of the iPhone SE in 2025. This model, which could be launched in March or during the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, will arrive with the powerful A18 chip, used in the latest iPhone models. This will ensure not only compatibility with the most demanding applications, but also with the advanced artificial intelligence features that Apple has integrated into its iOS ecosystem.

Besides, The new iPhone SE is expected to come with a significant increase in memorywhich will allow more efficient management of applications. All this, without a considerable increase in the price, which would remain around 430 euros.

Apple bets on artificial intelligence

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, has highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence in the company’s future vision, from the most advanced models like the iPhone 16 Pro Max to more accessible options like the next iPhone SE. According to Cook, AI will be key to improving everyday life, acting as a personal assistant that optimizes tasks and frees up time for exploration.

Although the current iPhone SE will stop selling soon, users can expect a replacement that will not only live up to, but surpass, its predecessor in all key aspects.
