He Science Park will celebrate this Sunday a historical and endearing occasion: the 53th birthday of Tommythe longest hippo in the world under human care.
The event, open to the public and full of educational and recreational activities, will also be an opportunity to highlight the commitment of the park and its sanctuary with animal conservation and well -being.
Tommy, one of the most beloved residents of the Sanctuary of Animals in the Science Park, He arrived in Puerto Rico in 1972. Today, with more than half a century of life, it is a symbol of resistance, affection and hope.
Despite its age conditions, such as arthritis and cataracts, Tommy enjoys exceptional quality of life thanks to the specialized care he receives daily: a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables and alfalfa, refreshing baths and moments of play in his pool are part of his routine.
In a press release, the Science Park reaffirmed its commitment to animal conservation and well -being by highlighting the work of its Animal Sanctuary In Puerto Rico.
Currently, the house 183 rescued animalsmany of them arrived injured, abandoned or not suitable for returning to wildlife, indicates the press release.
