He had not returned to Navacerrada years. When I was little, my grandparents took me there to a hotel called La Barranca, then to Hita Arcipreste, then to Doña Endrina (now the oaks). There we took refuge from heat and noise and smelled very well, far from sulfur and dust of the city. I always liked hotels, there is a parallel life in them full of stories that intersect. Recently, on Friday, fleeing from the high temperatures of Madrid and pollution, I returned to Navacerrada, between cedars and pines, where the aroma of my childhood suddenly took me to the Renault 18 of my father, the Agfa Chamber and the meals in which everyone spoke and then played the Pinacle. Pilar Guillén and Ángel García are the protagonists of this new idyll with the Serrano town of my childhood, the owners of the Art Box Alpine hotel, a huge house of wood, iron and glass, a work of precious architecture, of twenty -three rooms, full of angles and corners perfectly integrated with the landscape … look where you look, everything fits, everything. Inside, there are several painting works exhibited, some of the angel itself, sculpture pieces, book collections: “Bauhaus”, “Los Palacios de Madrid”, “Piscinosofía” … I want to stay a week to read here in the shadow and take baths in the pool surrounded by gigantic trees. At night, at the restaurant, twelve passes in the tasting menu: among others, lizzy lile with “Aliñás” potatoes or creamy sepia croquette of Palamós, also paired with bubbles and wines without eccentricities, thank you. Then, of course, a walk to the town, which is 5 minutes walking on a road-coat … keep smelling incredible … and only the forest is heard. This summer they propose on Fridays gastronomic and have live concert program. If the weekend arrives, you continue in the city and you have no plan … salt. Navacerrada smells well.
