Firefighters hope to control Tarragona’s fire throughout Thursday
The Firefighters of the Generalitat plan to take control of the low Ebro (Tarragona) fire this Thursday, after stabilized last Wednesday and have lifted the confinement in Paüls, the last municipality that maintained restrictions.
The Chief of Firefighters Intervention, Joan Rovira, explained, from the Tortosa Command Center, who hope to enter the control phase in about 24 hours if there are no setbacks in the perimeter, of more than 30 kilometers.
The Helitransported Brigade of the Aragon Government that has reinforced the extinction work has already left, while the personnel of the Emergency Military Unit (UME) will leave tomorrow morning.
The fire, declared Monday in Paüls, has burned an area of 3,321 hectares, especially forest and agricultural land and, to a lesser extent, urban. Of the total, 1,125 hectares are within the Natural Park of Els Ports.
In addition, there is no confinement people left after Civil Protection has raised this afternoon the restrictions in Paüls, and there are also no cut roads.
The Generalitat has also deactivated the emergency by the fire and has reduced the Infocat plan to alert phase. However, he asks for prudence with mobility in the area.
