The weather this Saturday will be marked by the presence of a DANA in the northwest of the peninsulawhich will continue to cause instability, with heavy rainfall in several areas. A total of five provinces are on alert for rain and storms, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
The most affected will be Huesca (Aragon), where the warning for rain will be orange and a cumulative total of 80 liters per square meter (l/m2). In addition, in Menorca (Balearic Islands) there will be a warning for rissagas. The rest of the warnings for rain and storms will be in Zaragoza (Aragon); Barcelona and Girona (Catalonia); and the Navarrese Pyrenees.
Showers and thunderstorms, locally strong, in these areas
The AEMET has reported that low pressures located northwest of the peninsula will cause mostly cloudy skies in the northern third, with rains that will affect mainly to Galicia and the western area of the Cantabrian Sea. These precipitations, in some cases accompanied by isolated storms, also will extend to northern Aragon and Cataloniabeing probable in other areas of the Cantabrian region and, more weakly, in the rest of the northern third.
The forecast indicates that the rains will be more intense at the beginning of the day, with Possible strong episodes in the western half of the Pyrenees and the northeast of CataloniaAs the day progresses, the rainfall will decrease and clearings will begin. The provincial capitals that will record the highest values will be Granada with 36ºC; Jaén and Murcia with 34ºC; and Albacete, Almería, Córdoba, Málaga and Valencia with 33ºC.
For theSundaythe Cantabrian storm will move northwards, leaving possible light rain in the northwest and showers in the Pyrenees, Catalonia and Castellón, with occasionally strong storms in coastal areas. Occasional showers are also expected in the southeast and the Balearic Islands, although the tendency will be for the rain to cease throughout the day. Temperatures will risereaching 35 degrees in Murcia, 33 in Malaga and Cordoba, while cities such as Leon, Oviedo and San Sebastian will barely exceed 22 degrees.
Will the strong storms continue next week?
Looking ahead to next week, the weather is expected to remain cloudy, with precipitation in the far north and west of the country, and a general drop in temperatures. On Tuesday, the situation could become unstable in the central area, according to eltiempo.es. Thus, it warns that a trough would quickly cross the Peninsula towards the east, and even a low pressure could drop. little DANAIn this context, rainfall would continue in the far north, but would reach more areas.
