This week’s weather will be marked by a typically autumn atmosphere: cloudy skies, abundant rain in much of the country and mild temperatures for the season.. The Atlantic storms will take center stage starting this Tuesdayleaving copious rainfall in the western peninsulaespecially in Andalusia, Extremadura, southern Galicia and Castilla y Leónbefore spreading to the rest of the territory.
According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the southwest winds will carry humid and temperate air masses, the open acquaintancesresponsible for maintaining rainy weather but without intense cold.
This Tuesday an Atlantic storm will approach the southwest of the peninsula, increasing cloudiness and leaving rains that will gain ground throughout the day. They will be more intense in Western Andalusia and Extremadura, where in the final hours they could be persistent and accompanied by storms.
The rainfall will spread to other areas in the west, such as the south of Galicia, the west of Castilla y León, points in the center of the peninsula, including the west of the Community of Madrid, and the west of Castilla-La Mancha.
Temperatures will continue to be pleasant, both during the day and at night. The atmosphere will be soft and in Murcia, Huelva or Badajoz, for example, 25 degrees will be reached again. Even so, in the northern half the morning will be cold again, with minimums of between 2 and 3 degrees in cities such as Zamora, Valladolid, Soria, Salamanca, Palencia, Teruel, Cuenca or Burgos.
A train of fronts arrives on Wednesday
On Wednesday, the arrival of a train of Atlantic fronts will cause widespread rains. The most persistent and abundant will be concentrated on the Atlantic slope, the center and south of the country, where storms and heavy showers are not ruled out. In the Cantabrian Sea, the Levant and the Balearic Islands, rainfall will be weaker and more dispersed.
Thursday: new rains and mild atmosphere
On Thursday, a new front will once again sweep the western peninsulawhile the remains of the first storm will leave rain in the northeast and around Estrecho. In the Canary Islands, showers will intensify in Gran Canaria and the western islands.
The nights will be milder thanks to cloudiness and southwesterly winds, with Minimum temperatures that will exceed 10-12 degrees in large areas of the center and south of the peninsulawhile the maximums will decrease, especially in the west, although without a particularly cold environment. In the Cantabrian Sea it can be reached between 23-25 degrees and in areas of the Levant, such as Murcia, Alicante or Valencia, between 27 and 29 degrees.
Weekend: the flow of abregos persists
For Friday and the weekend the circulation of abregos will continue, with new fronts that will continue leaving rainfall in much of the country, especially in Galicia, Castilla y León, Extremadura and western Andalusia. On the other hand, in the Mediterranean area and in the Balearic Islands there will be rain or only drizzle.
According to Meteored, the week’s totals will be notable. Throughout the week, more than 200 l/m² will accumulate locally in the western sector of the Central System, while they will exceed 100 l/m² in Galicia, Extremadura and the mountains of Castilla y León.
