Instagram is adding a new feature to its Stories section that will allow users who view them to leave comments and for other people who follow the person who posted them to see them as well.
The social network already allows users to leave comments on these ephemeral posts, but when they are responded to, the user receives them via direct messages (DM). This means that they are private and only the user can access them.
Meta, the platform’s owner, is incorporating a feature that makes comments on stories public, meaning that other people who follow the person who posted them can also see what is said about their ephemeral posts.
This is what he has announced both on Instagram and on Threads, where he has shared a video in which he explains how this new option works, which has the same dynamic as live videos, since the comments appear as they are sent.
These comments, which are optional according to an Instagram spokesperson who told The Verge, will be temporary and will last the same as Stories, so they will disappear after 24 hours of being published.
