Hydralia | International Day against Climate Change

A good example of all this are the ecofactoriesa new and effective model to redefine the last phase of the integral water cycle. To do this, Hidralia transforms old treatment plants into facilities that reuse, valorize and integrate water back into the territory that they treat, with maximum added value. In addition, they are respectful of their environment and energy self-sufficient.

The company’s objective is to ensure that all the treatment plants it manages in Andalusia can become this new model and follow in the wake of other success stories, such as Roquetas de Mar Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)which has achieved the highest health certification (class AA) for its regenerated water, becoming the first treatment plant in Europe to achieve this standard.

Thanks to this regenerated water, fertilizer consumption is significantly reduced by up to 30% and water resources are optimized in one of the most arid areas of the continent, such as the west of Almería. The main uses are in Sol y Arena Irrigation Community and the Playa Serena golf course. In addition, other municipal uses are planned in green areas and street cleaning, which will mean significant savings in drinking water by regenerating up to 10.9 cubic hectometers annually.
