This Wednesday, September 2, coinciding with Ceuta Day, more than 260 demonstrations will take placemany of them in Andalusia, under the ‘Por Ceuta’ initiative. A call supported by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) that aims show your support for the citizens of Ceuta after a month since the beginning of the migration crisis following the massive entry of more than 70,000 migrants from the borders of Morocco.
A large part of Spanish towns have decided to respond to the call of the FEMP, organizing rallies both institutionally and through citizen action. However, there is one province that has stood out for being the one that will host the most demonstrations in its cities: Malagawhich will have demonstrations both in the capital and in the surrounding municipalities.
Málaga will host demonstrations both in its capital and in the rest of its municipalities
The call from Malaga capital has come from the hand of its city council, establishing as a starting point the Casona del Parque at 8:00 p.m.. A time chosen for a large part of the Spanish territory, except for Ceuta and the Canary Islands. The objective, as they have indicated on their website, is to show their “support and solidarity with the citizens of Ceuta.”
However, this will not be the only city in Malaga whose city council has responded to the FEMP call, but there will also be institutional events in Mijas, Rincón de la Victoria, Benalmádena, Archidona, Manilva, Nerja, Benahavís, Alhaurín de la Torre, Torremolinos, Antequera, Vélez, Cortes de la Frontera, Ronda, Cártama, Villanueva del Rosario and Torrox.
Rallies have also been organized in other cities, although under the action of citizens, associations or entities, such as in El Burgo, Estepona and Villanueva de la Concepciónas well as other mobilizations called by social networks, but which appear as unverified on the official website of the call, as San Pedro de Alcántara, Árchez, Jimena de Líbar or Villanueva del Trabuco, among others.

On the other hand, there will also be demonstrations in other Andalusian provinces such as Sevillewhose mayor, José Luiz Sanzwanted to show his support and that of the city in the face of the situation they are experiencing in Ceuta. Specifically, the concentration of the capital will start in the Plaza Nueva. In addition, there will be institutional events in other Sevillian municipalities such as Tomares, Utrera, Marchena, Paradas, Palomares del Río, Carmona and Lora del Río, among others, in the squares of their respective town hall.
Almeria It also stands out for the large number of calls organized in its municipalities, specifically, 103 locations will participate in the ‘Por Ceuta’ initiative. In the capital, the mayor Maria del Mar Vazquez has confirmed its support and established the starting point of the march in the Old Square. Likewise, other institutional events that will take place in the province will be those in Albox, Macael, Níjar, Dalías, Olula del Río, Huércal-Overa or Berja.
The left-wing city councils of Granada will not support the concentrations in Ceuta
The same happens in Cadizwhose capital will host a massive demonstration after the call of the city council. The tour will begin at Plaza de San Juan de Dios. Just as in other municipalities such as Villamartín, Los Barrios, El Puerto de Santa María, Jerez de la Frontera, San Martín del Tesorillo or Arcos de la Frontera, among other institutional events that will take place in various locations in the province.
In Grenadethe city councils governed by the left have not supported the call of the FEMP and the only institutional events will take place in Almuñécar, Alhedín, Motril and Baza. Unlike Huelva capital, whose city council has organized a mobilization to show “its support and solidarity with Ceuta”, starting in the Town Hall door. There will also be events in other locations such as La Palma del Condado, Moguer or Lepe, among others.
Juanma Moreno will attend the call before the European Parliament
For his part, as reported by “Europa Press”, the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Morenowill be in Brussels this Wednesday to show their support for the demonstrations that will take place in front of the European Parliament. This has been called by the Popular Party at 12:00 hours in Luxembourg Square.
