Extremadura will look at the sky again during the early hours of Friday August 28. A partial lunar eclipse will be visible from all of Spain, although the geographical location of the community will allow practically the entire partial phase to be followed before the satellite disappears over the horizon.
The phenomenon will have a magnitude of 0.93 and the Earth’s shadow will cover a large part of the lunar disk during its moment of maximum occultation. To see it, it will not be necessary to use any type of eye protection, although it will be a good idea to look for a place with good visibility to the west.
What time does the lunar eclipse begin on August 28?
The partial phase will begin at 04:34 hours. From that moment it will be possible to see how the Earth’s shadow progressively advances on the surface of the Moon.
The climax will come at 06:12:53 hourswhen the eclipse maximum will occur. It will be the most suitable time for those who want to observe the Moon with a greater part of its surface covered by the Earth’s shadow.
From then on the opposite process will begin. The partial phase will end at 07:52 hoursvery close to moonset in Extremadura.
Lunar eclipse schedule in Cáceres
In Caceresthe partial eclipse will start at 04:34 hours and will reach its maximum at 06:12:53. At that moment, the Moon will be about 17.5 degrees elevation.
The partial phase will end at 07:52 and just seven minutes later, around 07:59 hoursthe moon will set. This will allow us to follow practically the entire evolution of the eclipse from the province.
Lunar eclipse schedule in Badajoz
The schedules will be practically identical in Badajoz. The partial phase will begin at 04:34, reach its maximum at 06:12:53 and end at 07:52 hours.
The main difference will be in the position of the Moon. During the maximum you will find about 18.2 degrees elevationslightly above the expected height in Cáceres. In addition, Moonset will arrive a few minutes later, at 8:02 a.m.

Therefore, the period around 06:12 hours will be the key moment to observe the eclipse from both Cáceres and Badajoz. As it occurs during the late hours of the morning, it will be advisable to look for a point with a clear western horizon to prevent buildings, trees or the relief itself from making observation difficult when the Moon loses height.
