The Junta de Castilla y León continues to extend training in digital skillssa the municipalities of the Community and does it again with the CyL Digital Olympics for the second consecutive year.
A free educational initiative, aimed at children and young people between 9 and 14 yearswhich combines technological learning with physical activity and teamwork, which is touring 14 locations in Castilla y León between the months of July and August.
“It is a summer proposal, which helps improve digital skills, active participation in the field of technologies, and reinforces creativity and inclusion for the youngest people,” highlighted this Thursday the Vice-Minister of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence, Luis Enrique Ortegaafter visiting the Olympics that have taken place in Aldeatejada (Salamanca).
In the CyL Digital Olympics, participating children enjoy activities that combine technology and robotics with sports practice, through a playful and educational approach.
Participants receive practical training in digital design, creative programming, 3D printing and motion robotics, using tools such as Canva, Scratch, Makey Makey and three-dimensional printing technology. On this occasion they have developed shield or medal designs.
The sessions are structured over two consecutive mornings (10 hours in total), in which interactive sports games will also be played to apply the knowledge acquired.
An activity integrated within the CyL Digital Rural program that aims to consolidate in this legislature after quintupling the associated centers in the last term to 350.
Of them, in Salamanca there are 48 centers where 918 activities have been carried out and 10,300 participants have attended. In the province as a whole, including the CyL Digital Space in the capital, the figures reach 3,750 activities taught and 40,000 attendees.
The CyL Digital Olympics have toured the municipalities of La Lastrilla, Espirdo, Benavente, Alba de Tormes, Nava del Rey, Simancas, Villanueva del Campo, Sotillo de la Adrada, Ponferrada, Cabrerizos, Medina del Campo, Crespos, Carrizo de la Ribera and Aldeatejada itself.
The objective of this activity is to deepen a collaboration network between local administrations on both sides of the border for the digital transformation of municipalities, taking advantage of the advantages that technologies They offer so much to citizens, companies and public administrations.
