The 10 infractions that the new radars with AI that Pamplona launches may be sanctioned

He Pamplona City Council has decided to give new joy to drivers with the upcoming launch of four speed radars in the city that will use artificial intelligence technology to sanction not only for going above the permitted limit, but for many other causes. From not wearing a seat belt to using a cell phone, including a wide range of infractions, a dozen in total.

These new smart radars cover a speed range that goes from 10 km/h to 320 km/h. Each of them can span several lanes, in both directionsand configure with different speed limits for each lane if necessary, something that does not happen in this case.

Beyond speeding, devices They incorporate artificial intelligence along with a color camera and an integrated license plate reading system to detect the following violations:

  • Parking in a prohibited area.
  • Not wearing a seat belt.
  • Using your cell phone while driving.
  • Perform a prohibited turn.
  • Skipping a zebra crossing.
  • Making an illegal lane change.
  • Running a red light.
  • Stop in areas of yellow shading.
  • Circulate in the opposite direction.

According to Noticias de Navarra, the Pamplona City Council hopes to have them installed this coming June, once they have been approved by the Spanish Metrology Center. Your initial location will be in the Gipúzcoa avenuenext to the Oblatas bridge, in the army avenuein the sadar street and in the Paseo de Santa Lucía street. We say initial because the City Council’s idea is to rotate them through different locations in the city.

This is facilitated because They do not use the usual protection cabins in traditional speed radars. They will be placed in height and can be installed in lateral, median and porch staves. They have a compact design and can operate at temperatures of between -30 and 70 degrees.

With these four, there will be eight radars that control traffic in the city. Each of the new ones has had a cost of 20,000 eurossomething that the City Council justifies to ‘monitor compliance with traffic rules, regulate speed and avoid accidents in the city’.
