Good news for unemployed citizens. He State Public Employment Service (SEPE) together with the Government of Spain will take measures to strengthen the employability of vulnerable groups. To do this, they will expand the budget of the autonomous communities so that they offer more career guidance and trainingas well as support in the process of finding a new job. These measures do not include financial aid or subsidies.
The publication in the BOE of Royal Decree 633/2025, of July 15, established the new measures that make up the Spanish Strategy for Active Support for Employment 2025-2028. This strategy seeks to favor certain groups who, whether due to age or other personal issues, see their opportunities in the labor market decrease considerably. Therefore, its main objective is strengthen the capacities of communities to offer support, training and monitoring to the unemployed in vulnerable situations.
These measures coincide with the high number of unemployed people over 45 years of age, one of the groups that will benefit from these new measures. According to the data provided in March by the SEPE, the number of unemployed people fell to 2,419,712, that is, there has been a year-on-year decrease of 6.2%. However, the most worrying data is found between the unemployed over 45 years of agewhich suppose 58.4% of those registered. Something that, added to the notable demographic aging of the country, will have a great impact on the pension system.
The SEPE seeks to reduce unemployment of those over 45 years of age and young people
The initiatives included in this new strategy are not based on the award of financial aid or paid, but focus on increasing the attention and training that certain groups of unemployed receive. The goal is to increase your chances of reintegration into the labor marketly improve the duration of professional careers, giving them sufficient tools and knowledge to not depend on state aid. The requirements to opt for these unemployment training
To achieve this, the Government will allocate billions of euros distributed among the different autonomous communities of Spain, which will be in charge of managing and offering these programs. Therefore, the requirements and offer of these initiatives will depend on each regional government and the calls published by the SEPE.
