Google prepare the end of Google Fit and the app fitbiteach with more than 100 million installations, as we know them. Both will be replaced by Google Healtha new unified platform that will bring together health tracking, AI training features and new hardware. According to the company, the change will bring ‘notable improvements’ for current users.
One of those improvements is a new design designed to make your data easier to find. The app is now organized into four tabs: Today, Fitness, Sleep and Health. In the Fitness tab you’ll find your ‘weekly plan’ with training suggestions, while the Today and Health tabs include a dashboard that you can customize to show the metrics that interest you most.
Google claims that the app is compatible with hundreds of devices and services through Health Connect, Apple Health, and Google Health APIs. This integration allows you to view data from different sources in one place, such as workouts recorded in Platoon or the meals noted in MyFitnessPal. The company is also bringing back expanded leaderboards among friends, which allow you to compete with other people in steps and cardiovascular load.
Of course, it incorporates AI functions based on Gemini. The new Google Health Coach interprets your data to deliver adaptive fitness plans and sleep insights. You can record information by text, voice, or by taking a photo of your food or the screen of a gym machine. For users of USAAI can even read and summarize user-uploaded medical records to offer personalized wellness advice.
You won’t have to download a new app to receive the news. The update will be released on May 19 as an automatic update for all Fitbit app users. Before the year endsGoogle will notify Google Fit of the change and provide them with a tool to help them migrate their data to the new Google Health platform.
The new Google Health app comes after the company has announced its response to proposals such as those of Whoop and Oura. Named as Fitbit Airit is a screenless activity bracelet that incorporates a tiny 5.2 gram sensor, offers a 7-day autonomy and a fast charging function that provides a full day of battery life in just five minutes.
