The firm that honored sustainability at MBFW Madrid

Like every year, the arrival of spring has welcomed the 83rd edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madridone of the most important fashion events in Spain. Organized by IFEMA MADRID with the support of the Madrid City Council, the meeting has demonstrated how to balance fashion, creativity and sustainability.

From the seats of Schweppes, LA RAZÓN has identified some of the most innovative and coherent proposals on the catwalks, as is the case of Pablo Erroz.

The Mallorcan designer, who has been labeling under his own name since 2010, has marked a career as a defender of sustainable production, in the entire word, not only regarding the fabric and raw materials, but also the human ecosystem that sustains his production.

On this occasion, Erroz’s catwalk left many messages, free to interpretation, but clearly inclined towards the environment. He restructured the traditional scenery to build a familiar environment where the models—in some cases accompanied by animals such as chihuahuas or dalmatians— paraded with unconventional accessories, such as bottle holders instead of bags. An act that questions the role of accessories and classic fashion codes. At the end of their walk, each model remained in the middle of the stage, forming a perfect picture of harmony and coexistence with the animals.

Regarding their designs, Erroz He continued his unisex and timeless style with a color palette that honored the four elements of the earth: a variety of greens, various shades of blue, copper, pale pink and the basic black and white. In this context, the presence of animals on the catwalk can be read as a contemporary metaphor regarding the integration of domestic animals in everyday life or even an implicit position in favor of animal welfare.

On the international scale, Stella McCartney is one of the pioneers in promoting sustainable luxury fashion with its cruelty-free designs.

As usual, in the latest edition of the MBFW Madrid, Sustainability was one of the most important topics of debate. In the call cyberspacethe gatherings focused on craftsmanship and contemporary luxury. Handmade garments and designs were valued, elevating these crafts to a higher and higher cost category. These concepts have been validated by renowned brands such as the Spanish one. Paris 64 and the British Mulberry.

In parallel, the structural impact of the sector was also discussed, where figures from the sector addressed the importance of textile waste management to the need to build more responsible models. The MBFW Madrid has culminated by demonstrating that Madrid is emerging as an interesting hub on the international scene, where sustainability is a key piece in the brands’ strategy.
