The elected mayor of the city of New York, Zohran Mamdani, arrived in Puerto Rico on November 6, 2025 to participate in the SOMOS 25 conference organized by Latino officials of the state of New York. He also visited, on November 7, the Islamic Center of the Caribbean – Masjid Ebadur Rahman, in Caimito.
