Motorola’s ultra-thin is the thinnest and has the best battery

Nobody had asked for ultra-thin mobile phones, but here we have them. First it was Samsung with the launch of Galaxy S25 Edge in May. Apple joined the party last month with the iPhone Air and now it is Motorola who is preparing the launch of a terminal even thinner than the previous ones: the Moto X70 Airwhich is about to be launched in China and will reach other markets in November under the name Edge 70it is not yet known whether with the surname Air or not, although it is most likely if Motorola wants to highlight its extreme thinness.

This smartphone is, like the previous examples, below the 6 millimeters thick and it weighs only 159 gramsslightly less than Apple’s proposals (165g) and Samsung (163g). In addition, it has two advantages over those.

The first is that it is even finer. If Samsung slimmed down its terminal to 5.8mm and Apple until 5.6Motorola goes further and reaches the 5.3mm in its thinnest part and the 5.99mm in the camera module. It is not as thin as some foldable smartphones when unfolded (the OPPO Find N5 stays in 4.21mm), but no one beats it in its category.

The second is that it solves the expected deficiency in this type of device: autonomy. While the Air has a 3,149 mAh (according to GSM Arena data, Apple does not indicate this) and the Edge of 3,900Motorola rises to 4,800 mAhwhich places it in line with the majority of mobile phones that tend to be around 5,000. Furthermore, the fast charging connected is 68Whigher than the 25W of the Edge and 20W of the Air.

However, that doesn’t mean that Motorola, like its competitors, hasn’t made concessions to reach the Edge 70’s dimensions. SoC is not the most powerful and settles for a Qualcomm SM7750-AB Snapdragon 7 Gen 4in front of the Qualcomm SM8750-AC Snapdragon 8 Elite of the Edge and the A19 Pro of the Air, in all cases accompanied by 12 GB of RAM. The good thing is that this will probably be reflected in a most affordable price.

Does not lose the stereo speakersas the Air did, and offers a P-OLED screen large size with a diagonal of 6.7 inchesgreater than that of the ultra-thin iPhone (6.5) and equal to that of Samsung. His maximum brightness is from 4,500 nitsfar ahead of the competition.

The set of rear cameras is dualwith a main of 50MP and an ultra wide angle also 50MP. On paper, better than iPhone Airwhich is made up of a single lens 48MPbut far behind edgewhich incorporates a main sensor of 200MP and an ultra wide angle 12MP. As for the front camera, the Motorola is ahead with one of 50MPin front of the 12MP of the Edge and 18MP of the iPhone Air.

The most interesting thing about the Moto Edge 70 is that it provides great autonomy in a form factor in which it seemed forbidden. Logically, it will be its price, which has not yet been revealed even on the X70 product page in China, that will make the device a better or worse purchase. For reference, the Moto Edge 60 base came out last April €429while the top model, the Edge 60 Prohe did it for €599. Far from the €1,219 of the iPhone Air and the €949 of the edge.
