Brussels summons a new tender of 1.3 billion for the development of AI

The European Commission will convene in April a new tender endowed with 1.3 billion euros for the deployment of essential technologies for the development of artificial intelligence, the institution reported on Friday in a statement.

The funds come from the European digital program, endowed with a total of 8,100 million euros for the 2021-2027 period, with the aim that companies and public administrations promote the deployment of technology.

Specifically, it promotes the availability and access to generative applications in the health sector, such as virtual reality models or the deployment of the European health data space, which allows citizens to control and exchange their medical information with health care systems or yield it for scientific innovation projects.

It also wants to promote its use in the education sector, as well as the creation of technological centers to be able to investigate and test AI tools. The European Commission announced last February a plan of 200,000 million euros to boost the development of artificial intelligence.
