On Android devices: Press and hold the number key “2” on the keyboard. On many keyboards, such as Gboard, additional options will appear, including the superscript “²” symbol. Select it and you can type “m²” without problems.

On iOS devices (iPhone/iPad): Apple devices do not have the superscript “²” directly on their keyboard. However, you can use voice dictation and say “square meters” to have the device convert it to text, or install an alternative keyboard from the App Store, such as Gboard, which has the “²” symbol.

On Windows: The quickest way is to use the keyboard shortcut Alt + 0178 on the numeric keypad. Simply type “m” and then, while holding down the Alt key, type “0178” to get “m².”

On macOS: On Mac, type “m,” and then hold down the Option (Alt) key and press “2” to get the superscript symbol “².”

Inserting from Word or Google Docs: If you’re typing in Word, select the number “2,” go to the “Home” tab, and choose “Superscript.” In Google Docs, follow the same process from “Format” > “Text” > “Superscript.”
