The State Meteorology Agency (AEMET) has activated Wednesday alerts for heavy rains and storms in several autonomous communities, with Special attention to the Autonomous Community of Balearic Islands, which is located on orange alert (important risk). Mallorca will be the temporal epicenter with up to 50 liters per square meter in an hour and strong storms.
The notice extends to other Mediterranean areaseitherwith Catalonia and the Valencian Community at yellow level (risk for certain activities). In addition, the Basque Country and Navarra are added to the regions on alert for the adverse weather.
The Aemet foresees for Wednesday that the position of a Dana in southern France and the passage of a trough on the peninsula increases instability. As for temperatures, an almost generalized decrease is expected. The maxims will exceed 35ºC at points of the Guadalquivir and depressions of the Southeast. Likewise, the minimums will not drop from 20ºC in the Canary Islands, in the Mediterranean area and in areas of Guadalquivir.
Hail storms
In Catalonia, It will rain intensely in Tarragonaup to 30 liters per square meter in an hour on the northern coast and on the coast of Barcelona, while in Preliteral and Pyrenees of Girona and in the Pre -Pyrenees of Barcelona they could accumulate 20 liters per square meter, with possible episodes of hail.
Also, the islands of Ibiza and Formentera, in the Balearic Islands, are under yellow notice due to rain accumulations up to 30 liters per square meterand the three provinces of the Valencian Community.
Intense rains in the northern peninsular
In the north, the rains will affect the Basque and Navarra country, where up to 40 liters per square meter in twelve hours are expected in the Cantabrian aspect of Navarra and on the coast and interior of Guipúzcoa, where they can be accompanied by hail.
Follow the heat in Andalusia
On the other hand, in Andalusia the province of Malaga in yellow alert by temperatures, with maximums of up to 36 degrees, in the area of the Axarchy and Sun and Guadalhorce, accompanied by terral winds.
