In spite of being one of those technical words that are currently mentioned, the low-code is a software development approach that allows to create applications and automate processes using visual tools and interfaces to drag and release, drastically reducing the need for manual coding. Basically (very basically) is like If an AI were capable of coding and presented the results in a Power Point with Anabolizantes. To better understand the impact of this technology, we talked to Ramón Riquelme, Senior Advisory Solutions Consultant de Appian, the main low -code software manufacturer on the market.
How are Ia integrating AI (especially generative) into its low-code platforms to improve process automation?
In Appian we have incorporated advanced abilities of AI, including generative, natively on our Low-Code platform to enhance the automation of business processes. For example, we get that Users of Appian applications can “dialogue” with data, documents, reports and information derived from processes, so that they can launch questions in natural language and receive answers based on information to which they have access. This allows us to help integrate AI into repetitive tasks and data extraction without requiring advanced knowledge, increasing operational efficiency.
What differentiating advantages offers Appian against other platforms that also incorporate AI?
Our priority is the security and privacy of the data, ensuring that everything remains under the control of the organization and complying with sectoral regulations. In addition, we integrate the AI into our LOW-Code platform which provides greater agility and productivity, cost savings, improves collaboration between the different teams improving the experience of the client and the user. All this in an intuitive interface that allows control easily in real time.
How do they handle the balance between automation promoted by AI and human control in critical processes?
Human control is essential in critical processes. Our platform is designed so that automation does not replace human control, but is a mutual collaboration and IA assists the human. AI agents can be supervised, audited and limited according to the rules of each company and its operational context. Thus continuous decision making under human supervision.
Where do Low-Code development see in the next 5 years, especially with the advance of AI?
In Appian we anticipate that Low-Code development together with the AI will further democratize the development of applications. This will achieve greater impact and transformation in economies in large Companies, but will also allow some more modest companies to compete with the greats, since their capacity will be reinforced by the optimization proposed by AI.
Are you exploring disruptive cases beyond traditional, for example banking, health or government?
That is the intention. For example, we have recently shared some success cases such as that of Acclaim Autism, a company that treats children with autistic spectrum disorder. His manual admission process made patients to wait up to 6 months to be treated. Thanks to Appian, they reduced admission time by 83%. Another example is Century Fire Protection, a company that offers fire protection services. We create with them an application of accounts payable that uses AI to automatically classify documents and extract data, so that they reduced invoices processing time by 36% and discounts not made by 50%.
How do you guarantee apply data safety in low-code applications, especially in regulated industries (banking, health)?
Security is a fundamental pillar. Our platform complies with the most demanding standards and regulations in the sector, including certifications such as Soc 2 Type II, Soc 3, PCI DSS, among many others. Another detail is that the data is not at the discretion of developers or AI systems, which avoids the possibility of filtering information. On the other hand, Appian’s approach to information security causes us to have controls so that the use of AI agents does not derive in a reset of language models or algorithms. Thus, both the data, such as the use, biases or any other information of our clients always remain in the strictest privacy.
