Total revolution: this will be Fernando Alonso’s car for Austin

Formula 1 returns. Three weeks of break have allowed the teams to fine-tune the package of evolutions that they will incorporate this weekend in Austin. Among them Aston Martin which will not only incorporate improvements, but will surprise with revolutionary new features in its design.

A change that comes about with the launch of the new ‘Generation 3’ initiative, a key collaboration between Aston Martin and its main partner, Aramco. The new design of the car, with details and colors that celebrate this initiative, will be used in the AMR24the car that will compete in the 2024 season.

Through three pillars, Generation 3 seeks to find innovative solutions that boost performance on the court while generating social impact off it:

Social value: inspire the next generation through STEM education and opportunities. This will include the launch of a new STEM scholarship program for Generation 3 in 2025 and will build on current STEM karting initiatives implemented by Aston Martin Aramco drivers and engineers.

Technological innovation: focused on materials and fuel innovations that emerge from the collaboration. This will materialize on the track with Aramco, which will supply advanced fuels to Aston Martin Aramco in accordance with new FIA regulations in 2026.

Transfer of technology: Leverage F1 innovation to drive real-world applications, with a focus on delivering tangible impact across the transport sector and beyond.

The association will also incorporate additional Generation 3 branding on the drivers’ suits and garage at this weekend’s United States Grand Prix.

The last hope for Aston Martin

But the design will not be the only thing and those from Silverstone announce improvements that will lay the foundations for the 2025 project. After a season in which the AMR24 has not met the expectations generated, the British team faces a key challenge in Austin.

Although the Silverstone team’s priority is placed on the new regulations that will come into force in 2026, This latest package of improvements could be decisive in establishing the foundations for next year’s car.. Some improvements that will not involve the arrival of large pieces but will focus in correcting braking, mechanical grip, aerodynamic load and gaining greater speed.

“We need new pieces, we need to find three or four tenths if we want to be leading that middle group againand the team is doing everything possible,” he told Alonso about what his team needs for the United States GP. Now he just hopes that the fiasco of 2023 is not repeated where the important aerodynamic package that introduced changes to the spoilers, the floor, the diffuser and a new “barge board” to minimize turbulence turned out to be a real fiasco.
