These are the new neighborhoods that will benefit

After just over a year in operation, The Regenera Madrid Plan has managed to reach 15 of the districts oldest in the community. Due to the success of the campaign, the city council is planning to increase its action to other areas, with the aim of achieving improve the quality of life of neighbors of the different Madrid neighborhoods and reach the entire city.

According to the vice mayor of Madrid, Inma Sanz, during the presentation of the first anniversary of the Regenera Madrid Plan, this is “a pioneer and innovative that will recover and transform dozens of degraded spacesespecially in those neighborhoods built before 1985“. To this end, the Madrid City Council has allocated nearly 141 million euros with which 21 action plans are active, benefiting more than 100,000 Madrid residents.

Likewise, the districts of Villaverde and Carabanchel, as well as Latina, have already approved their planwaiting for them to start. While in Villaverde and Moratalaz they have already finished. Actively, plans can be found in different phases of development in Usera, Villa de Vallecas, Hortaleza, Begoña, Puente de Vallecas and Ciudad Lineal. Thanks to this, the number of Madrid residents who benefit from these measures has increased. to more than 216,000.

The new districts that will benefit from the Regenera Madrid Plan

The intention for this second exercise is “toact on more than 85 square kilometers of the consolidated citywhich represents 60% of the residential fabric.” With this, the objective is that three out of every four Madrid residents can benefit from these measures. In addition, they plan to continue their actions in the following years, reaching the 21 districts of Madrid.

According to the city council, the plans that are active in the different neighborhoods will continue, but will be expanded to other areas that have not yet been able to benefit, such as: the Centro district, Arganzuela, Chamartín, Retiro, Salamanca and Chamberí. All of this with the aim of consolidating an urban regeneration model that allows for the recovery of degraded spaces, strengthening social and territorial cohesion and improving living conditions in the neighborhoods.”

In Pueblo Nuevo the regeneration process has already begun

Specifically, the plan has already reached areas such as New Townin Ciudad Lineal, in which they intend “improve accessibilitywiden sidewalks, incorporate new trees, create spaces for coexistence and organize parking”, as communicated by the Madrid City Council through its Facebook account. An initiative with which more than 5,300 residents of the neighborhood They will be able to see their quality of life increase.

Some measures that can now be enjoyed by inhabitants of CEIO Saguntoin which, thanks to an investment of more than two million euros, decisions have been made such as prioritizing “pedestrians over vehicles in the educational center environment.” A measure with which the safety of neighbors and their environmental quality will improve significantly. Likewise, some of the spaces have been allocated to build play areas for the little ones.
